Older Americans Act Reauthorization 2024-2025
UPDATE: USAging worked closely with the 118th Congress in 2024, leading to the OAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which contained some of our top priorities such as contracting flexibility for AAAs. The bill was initially included in an end-of-year spending package, however, it was stripped due to no fault of its own, but rather because of political disagreements among Republicans over the size of the omnibus bill. This led to large sections of the package being cut out at the last minute with no time for the bill to pass individually in the House. The OAA bill had bipartisan and bicameral support and USAging will be working hard to revive the bill in the 119th Congress and ensure it passes into law as soon as possible.
As it has for every past reauthorization, USAging is working with policymakers and stakeholders to update this vital Act, which supports millions of older adults and caregivers annually, and is the foundation of the Aging Network’s ability to create a wide range of programs and services to support older adults’ health, well-being and ability to age well at home and in the community.
