Short-Term CR Signed into Law to Fund Government Through December 11

This week, the House passed and the President signed into law a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) that would fund the government through December 11. The CR provides funding at FY 2026 levels for Labor/HHS programs and would temporarily block the Office of Management and Budget's controversial proposed rule on federal grantmaking for the duration of the CR.

The House entered their midterm election recess today and will not return until November, while the Senate is set to return to the Hill from September 14 to October 1, then will also be in recess until November. Negotiations around Older Americans Act (OAA) funding for FY 2027 will pick back up then, along with consideration of the OAA Reauthorization Act.
