This month, the House released their proposed levels for FY 2025 Labor-HHS funding, which includes significant cuts to Title III C1 and C2 nutrition programs and the elimination of Title V, the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and Adult Protective Services. These dangerous cuts would cause serious harm to the Aging Network and the older adults you serve, so it is critical to ensure these programs are protected! For more details on the bill, please read our Legislative Update from last week.
The next step in the appropriations process is for the Senate to develop their own proposed spending bill, and they are set to do so next Thursday, August 1. Before this markup, please contact your Senators to make it clear that the unacceptable cuts from the House would be detrimental to the programs and services you provide and ultimately would negatively impact older adults across the country. Reach out to your Senators today by using our FY 2025 Appropriations campaign page to customize our AAA and Title VI template letters to the Senate! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our policy team at policy@usaging.org.
