Transportation and Mobility
| Important Update from NADTC The Federal Transit Administration’s cooperative agreement for the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) will expire on September 30, 2025. After that date, NADTC resources and materials will remain publicly available at no cost on the Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility Technical Assistance Center (CCAM-TAC) website. Although the NADTC cooperative agreement is lapsing, USAging will retain a strong presence in the Transportation and Mobility arena. USAging partners in national efforts to enhance transportation access through its portfolio of federally supported initiatives, including the Accessible Transportation Resource Center (ATRC) and the CCAM Technical Assistance Center (CCAM-TAC). Through these partnerships, USAging’s Transportation & Mobility remains committed to bridging the work of national partners with the transportation and mobility needs of AAA and Title VI programs, representing their interests nationally, strengthening community impact, and fostering collaboration to expand accessible, reliable transportation options for older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers. |
USAging is a partner in two national technical assistance centers on transportation. The projects include a focus on accessible transportation to meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers.
Accessible Transportation Resource Center
The Accessible Transportation Resource Center (ATRC), funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL), was established in 2022 to advance accessible transportation. Their mission is to make transportation systems, vehicles, services, apps and websites accessible for older adults, people with disabilities, underserved populations and the general public. ATRC works to increase awareness and adoption of accessibility strategies, community engagement in planning and Mobility on Demand transportation systems. ATRC uses broad-based communication strategies and is building a network of users and providers committed to accessible transportation and supporting a Community of Practice focused on transportation accessibility in four communities. USAging partners with the Community Transportation Association of America, the Institute for Community Inclusion at UMass Boston and DJB Evaluation Consulting, LLC, to administer ATRC.
