Arlington County’s Agency on Aging is seeking a Nutritionist to join their team. This position will ensure that the Home Delivered Meals Program, Meals on Wheels (MOW) and the Congregate Nutrition Programs (Social 60+ Cafés at 3 55+ Centers) are delivered as stipulated in the applicable state service standards and federal regulations.
Specific duties include:

  • Coordinating the required assessment/reassessment for the Home Delivered Meals program; 
  • Analyzing nutritional needs of program participants and developing dietary plans;
  • Participating in quarterly menu planning with the contracted meal provider and analyzing proposed menus compliance to required nutritional standards;
  • Providing regular nutrition education for AAA programs and one-on-one nutrition counseling for participants determined to be high nutrition risk; and 
  • Performing other related duties as required or as directed by Supervisor.

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field; 
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN); and 
  • Some experience as a nutritionist or dietician.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
  • Master's Degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field;
  • Post-Master's degree experience including at least one year providing services to older adults, adults with disabilities, caregivers and their families
  • Some experience or specialized training in gerontology or geriatrics;
  • Some experience with the planning and supervision of food and nutrition services in home and community-based or facility-based settings; and
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, Russian, Amharic, or Vietnamese.
