Miranda Root

Miranda Root joined USAging in February 2026 as the Benefits Assistance Program Manager. In this role, she supports USAging’s partnership with the National Council on Aging to expand the services of the National Center for Benefits Outreach and Enrollment. She oversees efforts to bolster the economic security and health of low-income older adults and people with disabilities by enhancing access to vital federal and state benefits.
 
Miranda has over 10 years of experience in benefits assistance. Before joining USAging, she worked for the National Training and Data Center at Virginia Commonwealth University providing training and technical assistance on federal and state benefits to benefits counselors. Prior to her time at VCU, she worked for seven years on the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance program in direct service providing individuals with disabilities individualized benefits planning and served five years as the Program Director. 
 
Miranda holds a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a Licensed Master of Social Work and a certified Community Partner Work Incentives Counselor.
