n4a Leaders Brief Congress on Critical Aging Issues During COVID-19

It was a busy week virtual week for aging advocates on Capitol Hill. This week, Executive Director of the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services and n4a board member briefed the U.S. House Education and Labor Committee about how the Aging Network is responding to increased and changing needs during COVID-19, and n4a CEO, Sandy Markwood, briefed staff from the House Ways and Means Committee about the network's role and opportunities to address social isolation among older adults.

As McSpadden told Members of the House Education and Labor Committee, “…within this turbulent time, there are also opportunities. The Aging Network is stepping outside of the box to try new things and develop creative and innovative services to meet the needs of our aging community members.” Read her full remarks or watch the video

n4a will continue to identify and pursue advocacy opportunities for the Aging Network and the older adults it serves in ongoing legislative action in response to the coronavirus pandemic. We urge aging advocates to use n4a's advocacy tools and resources to continue to engage federal lawmakers as well.
