Older Americans Act Wrap Up!

For all the details on what's in the bill, consult n4a's analysis of H.R. 4334, the Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020. The Administration for Community Living (ACL) has indicated that, where applicable, it will begin to implement the new provisions in due process, seeking out stakeholder guidance in some cases. Although the bill became law the moment the President signed it, ACL has indicated that there will be time for states and AAAs to adjust to the new provisions. No word yet on if the COVID-19 crisis may affect ACL's timeline.

And as n4a's Thursday Legislative Update details, Congress also this month provided an additional $250 million in OAA nutrition funding to respond to the increased needs resulting from COVID-19. That funding is already out to states and making its way to AAAs and then to providers, enabling them to meet this crisis with supplemental and flexible dollars. The Update also details the bill currently before the House, which would provide many hundreds of millions more dollars for OAA and aging and disability entities. Get the details!
