With a new fiscal year starting on Tuesday and unfinished appropriations work piling up, Congress passed a short-term funding bill to ensure that the federal government keeps operating in the meantime. The stopgap measure finalized this week will give appropriators until November 21 to hash out their differences.
H.R. 4378, the short-term funding measure, includes funds for AAAs, SHIPs and ADRCs to continue providing outreach and enrollment assistance for low-income Medicare beneficiaries, which was set to expire on September 30, as well.
While Congress is at home for two weeks until mid-October, it is critical that Aging Network advocates turn up the heat on their advocacy to ensure that House-approved increases for OAA and other aging programs are reflected in a long-term funding bill later this fall.
