Integrated Care Innovations for Individuals Living with Dementia

n4a member Kathy Vesley Massey, President and CEO of Bay Aging, and Marisa Scala-Foley, Director of n4a's Aging and Disability Business Institute, recently discussed programs and innovations that can be used to better support individuals living with dementia in the community. The meeting was held by the National Alzheimer's Project Act (NAPA) Advisory Committee, which is run by HHS.
Kathy discussed Bay Aging's successful care transitions model, also used by VAAACares®, that integrates clinical and social services to better serve the community. Marisa discussed the work of the Business Institute and upcoming changes to the Medicare Advantage program that will allow plans to offer supplemental benefits—including some home and community-based services. The panel also featured Tim Engelhardt, Director of the Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Debra Cherry, Executive Vice President of Alzheimer's LA.
