We all know that one in five Americans will be age 65-plus by 2030, but did you know that by 2050, one in five older adults will be Hispanic?
A 2016 report from the National Hispanic Council on Aging found that Hispanic older adults struggle to access services for housing, food and health programs due to linguistic and cultural gaps with service providers and difficulty navigating enrollment procedures.
On June 22 at 3:00 p.m. ET, in partnership with the National Association for Hispanic Elderly/Asociación Nacional Pro Personas Mayores (NAHE), n4a will host a member-only webinar “Serving Hispanic Older Persons, Is There a Salsa Beat in Your Service” that will highlight the current challenges Hispanic older adults and caregivers face. By participating in this webinar, you can learn how to improve your agency and staff's cultural competence to better serve current Hispanic clients and potential clients.
This webinar is part of n4a's Serving Diverse Populations webinar series, which aims to strengthen the cultural competency of AAA staff and providers through ongoing education and training opportunities. We will be holding a second webinar in partnership with NAHE on July 13 that will address diversity in hiring. Registration information for that webinar will be sent later this month.
If there are any specific populations that have not yet been a part of the webinar series that you would like to see addressed, let us know.
