St. Louis AAA Helps Local Seniors Maximize Pharmacy Benefits

With Pharmacy Benefits Week (PBW) extended until February 24, we're hearing from AAAs who are taking advantage of the extra time to support the campaign and to position themselves for a chance to win a cash prize for their organization.

Benefits Coordinator Mark Smith of the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging (SLAAA) made a presentation this week to a group of nurses and patient navigators at Affinia Healthcare on how to help older adults maximize their pharmacy benefits. Mark also used the opportunity to acquaint attendees with other SLAAA services. The event was very well received, with a nurse noting, “This was great, so informative!”

The PBW campaign was developed in collaboration with Walgreens to help older adults understand how they can lower medications costs and improve their overall health by making the most of their prescription benefits. SLAAA is just one of many AAAs around the nation who are undertaking a wide range of activities to support the campaign, including making presentations at senior centers and working with local media.

Joining the campaign is easy. To facilitate your outreach efforts, we developed a handy toolkit containing everything you need to spread the word in your community.

To show our support for your hard work in promoting this important issue and to encourage more AAAs to get involved, we will award prizes of as much as $2,000 for the most successful campaign efforts. Contest details can be found hereDeadline for submissions is February 24, so get started today!
