Congress Announces Short-Term Funding Strategy

Within days of returning to DC after a monumental election, and before leaving town for the Thanksgiving holiday, Republican leaders in the Senate and House announced that they will pursue another short-term continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government after the current temporary funding measure expires on December 9.

The next CR is expected to fund agencies until March 31, which would mean that longer-term spending decisions would be postponed until the Trump Administration and 115th Congress take office in January. This is not the strategy that n4a hoped Congress would take for FY 2017 funding. We will continue to update members with more details about the specific temporary funding plan when Congress returns following the Thanksgiving break.
