Michigan AAA Spreads Awareness on Pharmacy Benefits

The Answers on Aging®|Pharmacy Benefits initiative is a public education campaign developed, in collaboration with Walgreens, to spread awareness of the fact that as few as 12 percent of people with Medicare have the lowest possible total plan cost for their Medicare prescription drug coverage.

On October 20,
Senior Resources of West Michigan held an event with Walgreens to help clients learn how to get the most out of their Medicare prescription drug plans. Nearly two-thirds of the people attending obtained worksheets to set up appointments with their Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) office. Over the year, Senior Resources of West Michigan has held public events and leveraged social media, their newsletter and the senior issues coalition to get the word out to several hundred people. CEO Pam Curtis hopes to offer this event in the future so that beneficiaries can become more infomred Medicare consumers.
