As Leadership Institute 10th Anniversary Nears, Early Graduate Reflects on Experience

In May 2007, when Patrice Earnest, then the Education & Resources Coordinator for the Atlanta Regional Commission AAA, joined over 20 Aging Network colleagues at the first-ever Leadership Institute, she had no idea that the experience would remain so powerful and relevant a decade later.

“For our class project, my group decided to develop a marketing campaign, even though none of us had much experience in that area,” said Earnest. “We learned that the task wasn't about the end product, but about the journey of self-discovery we made together; it forced us to appreciate different perspectives—a lesson I carry with me today.”

Because of her Leadership Institute experience, Earnest, who has received major honors and promotions since her time at the Institute—most recently being named Director of the Eldercare Locator at n4a—also noted that, for the first time, she was able to build a strong, national network of contacts, relationships that are still going strong.

Find out why graduates like Patrice have called their Leadership Institute experience “life-changing,” when you join the 10th Anniversary Class of 2017 on the beautiful campus of Georgetown University in Washington, DC from February 22-24, 2017. We will begin to accept applications on September 7, so be on the lookout for information soon on how to apply.
