n4a attends Dementia-Focused Kickoff

The Dementia Friendly America (DFA) Initiative in Prince George's County held its kick-off meeting this week, representing the culmination of the County's initial planning efforts.

DFA is a national initiative addressing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias that was officially launched at the 2015 White House Conference on Aging where Prince George's County was recognized as one of eight national early adopter communities.

“In Prince George's, we want to have a county where people with dementia and their families feel supported and understood,” said Theresa Grant, Division Manager, Department of Family Services, who facilitated the event. "We want them to know we are a resource."

The esteemed panel also included Rushern Baker, III, Prince George's County Executive; Sandy Markwood, CEO, n4a; Gloria Lawlah, CEO, Senior Family Supports; as well as representatives from the National Capital Area Alzheimer's Association and Prince George's Department of Family Services.
