The Appalachian Council of Governments (ACOG) is the Area Agency on Aging serving six upstate counties in South Carolina. Through a collaboration with a city, county and university, ACOG and its partners began offering Brain Health Club, a program for adults living with dementia. Local volunteers and students from Clemson University helped staff the program, which regularly reached 10 to 11 people with two-hour sessions held twice weekly. Club activities were guided by Alzheimer's Association recommendations for promoting brain health, in combination with research conducted by Clemson University students. Activities included music therapy, art therapy, social interactions and more, described on page six of this USAging report.
