Resources on the Ready: All You Need to Know to Help Influence the Course of Funding for Older Americans Next Year!

n4a's recent Advocacy Alerts have all the details you need to swiftly and easily take action for FY 2022 funding for older adults. Follow these three easy steps to emphasize funding needs for OAA programs and services for the next fiscal year beginning October 1!

STEP ONE: If you haven't already done so in response to n4a's March 30th Advocacy Alert, send a formal letter to your Representatives and Senators to support our requested investments in OAA programs and services! Read n4a's appropriations request letter but use our grassroots templates (AAA version / Title VI version) to customize your asks to reflect your agency/program. It is important that you take the time to localize what this funding means for the older adults and caregivers in your community, Tribe or state. Send the letter via email to their DC and district offices. Find that contact information on your Members' websites: www.house.gov and www.senate.gov.

STEP TWO: Missed our April 13 Advocacy Alert? Don't worry, it's not too late to make a call! Make ONE phone call to your Representatives and ask for their support signing on TWO critical Dear Colleague letters written by congressional aging champions. Call the DC office and ask for the staff member who handles Older Americans Act or appropriations issues.

You can reach them through the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121. Tell them about the bipartisan Bonamici-Stefanik OAA and SHIP-SCSEP Dear Colleague letters. Offer to email them a link to the Bonamici-Stefanik letter as well as a link to the SHIP-SCSEP letter if they have not already seen them. Give local statistics that demonstrate the need for increased funding.

The deadline for SHIP-SCSEP signatures is Friday, April 16.
The deadline for OAA Title III signatures is Thursday, April 22.

STEP THREE: Register for n4a's Aging Policy and Advocacy Summit, April 27–29. By now you know n4a's premier annual policy event will be easily accessible from your computer! Going virtual offers a great opportunity to expand attendance to senior staff and others—sharing the learning and increasing our advocacy impact. n4a Member rates are $150 for one day, or $250 for all three days. We hope that this year's virtual format, which means no travel costs to DC, will allow you to invest in your staff and volunteers. Learn more and register at www.n4a.org/agingpolicysummit!
