Members of Congress may be in their states and districts until after the Labor Day holiday, but lawmakers are still working to address several essential September deadlines, including another round of COVID-19 relief programs and FY 2021 federal funding.
High-level negotiations on a next round of coronavirus relief legislation continue in fits and starts. However, this week nearly 100 Representatives from both parties sent a letter to congressional leaders insisting on another significant round of investment in OAA programs in the next coronavirus response package. This letter mirrors a bipartisan Senate effort echoing the same request sent last week.
Additionally, n4a is pushing a bicameral proposal from Senator Tina Smith and Congressman David Trone that would provide additional funding for AAAs and other Aging Network stakeholders to mitigate widespread social isolation and loneliness.
