AAAs from coast-to-coast are working with local Walgreens Regional Health Directors as part of the national Answers on Aging®|Pharmacy Benefits campaign to provide Medicare beneficiaries with the information they need to take full advantage of their pharmacy coverage, something that as few as 12 percent actually do.
The centerpiece of the program is the celebration of Pharmacy Benefits Week (PBW) on January 25-29, an opportunity for AAAs to host public education events for their clients and other stakeholders interested in learning more about this important issue. To reduce the amount of work AAAs must undertake to hold campaign events, a turnkey toolkit containing event flyers, a poster, PowerPoint presentation, infographic and other outreach materials was developed.
Walgreens representatives can serve an important role at these events, providing information and guidance that will not only help attendees better understand the prescription drug costs specific to their needs, but also help them make informed decisions moving forward.
“We jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with n4a on this campaign because helping older adults remain healthy and independent in their homes and communities is central to both of our missions, said Joe Pastorino, Walgreens Senior Strategy Analyst, Medicare. “Too many Medicare beneficiaries don't realize that maximizing their pharmacy benefits can be pivotal to maintaining their physical and financial health and these events will help us spread the word.”
