Short-Term Federal Funding Measure Averts Shutdown

This week, lawmakers and the White House agreed on a second round of short-term federal funding to keep the government operating until December 20.

While this temporary funding extension, known as a continuing resolution (CR), staves off a federal shutdown threat over Thanksgiving, lawmakers will now face another funding deadline before the December holidays.

To achieve a long-term funding bill, House and Senate appropriators still must agree on overall funding allocations for federal agencies. Advocates should continue to promote the importance of strong OAA funding levels with their lawmakers, and can use n4a's Appropriations Advocacy tools and resources to keep Members of Congress informed.

In other advocacy news, the House and Senate continue to conduct bipartisan, bicameral discussions aiming to reach agreement on an OAA reauthorization package. Advocates should continue to emphasize the importance of finalizing OAA reauthorization before the end of the year, so if you haven't yet taken action this month, see our November 13 Advocacy Alert.
