AAAs Planning for Events to Celebrate Pharmacy Benefits Week
Last year we announced an exciting new initiative, developed in collaboration with Walgreens, called the Answers on Aging®¦Pharmacy Benefits program.
This public education campaign helps Medicare beneficiaries maximize their pharmacy benefits, something that as few as 12 percent actually do. The centerpiece of the campaign is the celebration of Pharmacy Benefits Week (PBW) on January 25-29, an opportunity for AAAs to host gatherings for the public and other stakeholders interested in learning more about this important issue. In December, you received a toolkit containing all of the resources you will need to spread the word and get your community engaged in this effort.
We are delighted to hear that many of you have already begun to plan events to help inform your clients about how they can get the most out of their Medicare prescription drug plans in the new year. The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging in central Kansas is holding three events during the PBW observance.
“We have promoted the events, as have our local Walgreens, so we expect a great turnout,” said Karen Mayse, the agency's Senior Opportunities and Community Services Supervisor. “This campaign will not only help us educate seniors and caregivers about changes to their prescription coverage, in our role as Medicare counselors, but also gives us the opportunity to make them aware of the many other services and supports our agency offers across the spectrum of need.”
If you haven't begun planning your events, there's still time, so take advantage of the handy toolkit resources and join the campaign!
This program also provides you with the opportunity to connect with a member of the Walgreens regional leadership in your area. They are eager to support your efforts to promote PBW and the Answers on Aging®¦Pharmacy Benefits program in your community.
