engAGED: The National Resource Center for Engaging Older Adults, has launched a new website! engagingolderadults.org provides a helpful set of resources AAAs and other community-based organizations can use to help older adults learn about ways they can stay engaged and active in their communities. Whether it is through volunteering, arts programs, lifelong learning, honing their technical skills or participating in intergenerational activities, there is something for everyone! Have a resource you think we should add? Send an email to info@engagingolderadults.org.
The website also serves as a clearinghouse of information about emerging trends, resources and replication strategies that AAAs and other members of the Aging Network can use to strengthen the social engagement of older adults in their own communities.
Last month engAGED, at an event hosted by partner Older Adults Technology Services, presented a draft of its National Strategic Framework for Engaging Older Adults to an audience of representatives of the Aging Network, including a variety of agencies and organizations that serve older adults. The framework outlines elements and approaches that can increase the levels of social engagement among older adults in communities around the country. Have insight into the strategic framework that you'd like to share? Send an email to info@engagingolderadults.org.
engAGED: The National Resource Center for Engaging Older Adults is funded through a grant provided by the U.S. Administration on Aging, part of the Administration for Community Living, and is a direct response to the growing recognition of the long-term negative effects of social isolation.
