Senate Passes Massive Labor-HHS Funding Bill For First Time in 15 Years

By a vote of 85 to 7, Senators cleared a massive $857 billion FY 2019 spending package to fund the Departments of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, including funding for the Administration for Community Living and Administration on Aging. Combining Defense spending with the bulk of domestic discretionary spending paved the way for a rare bipartisan process to move this bill.

n4a will have details on specific funding levels for aging programs later today, but overall, most core OAA and other aging programs were funded at last-year's boosted levels. The House process will likely not be as bipartisan, and we still expect to see a temporary funding bill enacted before the November elections. Stay tuned for an n4a Legislative Update!
