New Community Joins DFA Network: Village of Yellow Springs, Ohio

n4a is pleased to announce that the Village of Yellow Springs, Ohio is the latest community to join the Dementia Friendly America network.

Dementia Friendly Yellow Springs plans to provide training across community sectors (employers, emergency response, schools, retail businesses, faith communities); build public awareness about dementia friendly practices throughout the Village; increase knowledge about dementia through articles in the local newspaper and the Village Schools; and assess gaps and unmet needs for services.

Yellow Springs already has a robust and diverse advisory committee consisting of representatives from various sectors of the community—caregivers, small business, transportation, medical, local government, senior centers and more. Yellow Springs Senior Center is leading the effort to become a Dementia Friendly Community with support from the Del Mar Social Innovation Fund of The Dayton Foundation and the Yellow Springs Community Foundation.
