Virginia AAA Recognized for Work with VD-HCBS Program

Bay Aging, the Virginia AAA that received the 2017 The John A. Hartford Business Innovation Award, was recently spotlighted by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), in a driven discussion on innovative programs it provides for disabled veterans.

Partnering with the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Bay Aging's Veteran-Directed Home and Community-Based Services (VD-HCBS) program has established several key services and supports, including a consumer application of the program giving veterans control over their independence by allowing them to hire caregivers of their choosing. In 2011, Bay Aging established its own Financial Management System enabling expedited payroll and service to veterans and their employees. To date, the program has served more than 200 local vets.

With the success of the VD-HCBS program, Bay Aging looks forward to expanding this initiative across Virginia.
