New Partnership Helps Older Adults Maximize Pharmacy Benefits

Research shows that most Medicare beneficiaries are not taking full advantage of their pharmacy coverage, resulting in poor medication adherence that can have a negative effect on their physical and financial health, so n4a and Walgreens teamed up to tackle the problem.

Phase one of The Answers on Aging®¦Pharmacy Benefits program features an educational toolkit to help older adults understand their pharmacy benefits once they choose their Part D plan. These materials provide a brief overview of the issue and a simple, step-by-step process for helping consumers understand their benefits based on their specific needs and are available for download in color and black and white formats. Should you wish to use these tools, they've been designed to ensure that there is minimal additional work for your Medicare counselors.

As part of phase two of the program, we will provide you with additional education and outreach tools to support public recognition of Pharmacy Benefits Week (PBW), a new observance developed to shine a spotlight on this important issue. Because most older adults begin to seek help understanding their new prescription benefits in the new year, PBW will take place January 25-29, 2016.

We will be in touch soon with more information.
