Celebrate National Falls Prevention Day with NADTC!

Today is National Falls Prevention Day! This year's theme is “10 Years Standing Together to Prevent Falls.” Held each year on the first day of fall, Falls Prevention Day offers the opportunity to learn about, support and promote falls prevention strategies. The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC), which n4a and Easterseals operate, is working to prevent falls by highlighting the importance of falls prevention within the context of transportation.

Suffering a fall can cause critical injury, which can have a direct impact on an older adult's ability to lead an active and independent life. NADTC's Falls Prevention and Public Transportation brochure educates transportation providers, community professionals and older adults about the safe use of public transportation. The brochure includes falls prevention best practices, strategies for safely navigating transit vehicles and two printable tip sheets for drivers and riders.

NADTC encourages all older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers and organizations that support accessible transportation to think about how you can stand together to prevent falls in your community!
