Campaign Empowers People with Diabetes to Control Their Health

In 2013, diabetes was ranked the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S. and currently, over 25 percent of Americans age 65 and older have diabetes.

Research shows that disease self-management practices not only help people to live with diabetes, but also thrive, but many older adults are unaware of the tools and services available to them as part of their Medicare benefits.

For this reason, n4a teamed up with UnitedHealthcare to release public service announcements (PSAs)—in 30 second and 60 second formats; there's also a Spanish language PSA—to help people with diabetes feel empowered to take control of their health. The year-long campaign kicks off in September, when the PSAs begin to air on broadcast and radio outlets nationwide.
