Senators Leadership Developing Health Care Bill

Despite statements indicating otherwise, we expect we will see a health care proposal emerge from the Senate soon. A small group of Republican Senators has been working behind closed doors to craft their own ACA repeal and replacement plan following House passage of its bill last month.

We also expect the Senate plan will include major Medicaid reform, most likely per-capita caps. As soon as we have details on a proposal, we will provide analysis on what a Senate bill could mean for older adults and Area Agencies on Aging. In the meantime, advocates should still be educating Members about the importance of Medicaid to meeting the long-term care needs of older adults in the community. More talking points and engagement tools for agencies and stakeholders are available in n4a's recent Advocacy Alert.
