Statement from n4a CEO Sandy Markwood on the 2015 White House Conference on Aging

Today, n4a is so excited to be presiding over the largest watch party for the White House Conference on Aging in the nation at n4a's Annual Conference, which is taking place in Philadelphia.

The crowd of 900 aging professionals from across the U.S. stands ready to move an agenda forward that ensures that every older American has the opportunity to age successfully at home and in their community. We are so glad to be a part of this historic effort to join with you, in your towns and communities, in participating in today's Conference.

Experts in long-term services and supports, caregiving, nutrition services and protecting older Americans' rights are gathered together in the City of Brotherly Love to focus on the opportunities that await us in the decade ahead. We are delighted that the White House will kick-off today's sessions with a focus on caregiving, which is essential to the work of the Aging Network, Area Agencies on Aging and Title VI Native American aging programs across the nation. We know how essential families and friends are to helping older Americans remain independent and supported in their communities and stand ready to help both caregivers and older adults through vital Older Americans Act?supported programs and the work of aging organizations in communities across the country.

We look forward to an exciting day that builds on this year's terrific regional forums and listening sessions across the country. And we can't wait to hear the questions and ideas that will be coming in today from Twitter, Facebook and other social media.

To watch the event live starting at 10:00 am ET, tune in now! Three leaders from n4a?s Board of Directors will be at the White House today in person: Joe Ruby, n4a President, Uniontown, Ohio; 1st Vice President Mary Beals-Luedtka, Flagstaff, Arizona; and 2nd Vice President Anne Hinton, San Francisco, California.

Here's to a fantastic 2015 White House Conference on Aging!
