Lawmakers returned this week to Capitol Hill to commence the 115th Congress, and House and Senate Republicans were quick off the starting block to begin the budgetary process to partially repeal the Affordable Care Act.
In addition to setting a slate of nomination hearings and announcing numerous committee assignments, the Senate began considering an FY 2017 budget resolution which will give legislating committees directive to create policy proposals to gut key components of the Obama Administration's landmark health care law. As n4a detailed in our recent Legislative Update, lawmakers are expected to use a process known as budget reconciliation to roll back key provisions in the ACA, and at this point it is uncertain the timeframe of that rollback or exactly which provisions will be involved. n4a will release information on exactly what this process could mean for the Aging Network, as well as advocacy messages and materials for members to use in outreach to Members of Congress.
