Healthy Aging in Action Report Released

On Friday, November 4, the Office of the Surgeon General released Healthy Aging in Action (HAIA), a new report that identifies recommendations and actions to promote healthy aging and improve health and well-being for older adults.

This report is a direct outcome of the 2015 White House Conference on Aging and highlights several key government programs as well as few community-based programs, including the Philadelphia Corporation on Aging's Gen Philly and New York City's Department for the Aging's Market Ride

The Healthy Aging in Action aims to:
  • Support prevention efforts to enable older adults to remain active, independent and involved in their community
  • Highlight innovative and evidence-based programs from National Prevention Council departments, as well as agencies and local communities that address the challenges related to physical, mental, emotional and social well-being for older adults
  • Inform future multisector efforts to promote and facilitate healthy aging in communities
