Tools to Support Your Medicare Open Enrollment Efforts Now Available!

Last fall we kicked off the Answers on Aging®|Pharmacy Benefits initiative, a public education campaign developed, in collaboration with Walgreens, to spread awareness of the fact that as few as 12 percent of people with Medicare have the lowest possible total plan cost for their Medicare prescription drug coverage.

The centerpiece of the campaign is a comprehensive toolkit containing all the resources you will need to make your clients aware of this important issue.

Since the campaign was launched last year, many of you said that the campaign materials served as a helpful catalyst for discussion with your clients about getting the most out of their Medicare prescription drug plans. You also said that the Consumer Quick Guide, Consumer Checklist, Counselor's Quick Guide and a Counselor-to Consumer Discussion Guide were also valuable.

“Last year, we held public events and leveraged social media, our newsletter and senior issues coalition to get the word out to several hundred people in our community,” said Pam Curtis, CEO of Senior Resources of West Michigan. “Many of the older adults we reached were shocked to learn that they were leaving so much money on the table by not knowing enough about their options.”

Later this fall, watch for details of phase two of the campaign—Pharmacy Benefits Week (PBW)—a national observance held in January to further shine a spotlight on the importance of Medicare beneficiaries maximizing their pharmacy benefits and how to get the most out of their pharmacy benefits in the new year.
