House Appropriations Committee Boosts Aging Spending

Despite the news out of the House this week that appropriators approved their chamber's version of an FY 2017 plan for Labor, Health and Education spending (Labor-HHS), including for OAA programs, it is unlikely that any bill will reach final approval before the September 30 deadline, and likely that Congress will be forced to continue current funding levels at least though the election.

As n4a detailed in our Legislative Update yesterday, the House version of the bill that funds OAA programs rejected many of the concerning cuts that the Senate proposed—including eliminating funding for SHIP programs—and even offered some important moderate funding increase for Title III and other OAA programs.
