House Subcommittee Passes Labor-HHS Bill Rejecting Senate SHIP, SCSEP Cuts

In an advocacy victory, the House Appropriations subcommittee with jurisdiction over OAA and other aging programs, passed a bill that rejects the Senate-proposed cuts to SHIP and SCSEP.

The full committee may consider the bill, which provides some modest increases for meals programs and level funds most other OAA titles, next week.

n4a and 64 other national aging organizations sent a letter encouraging appropriations leaders to include full funding for the SHIP programs. More details about the Senate-proposed SHIP cuts are available in our July 5 n4a Advocacy Alert. We will provide an in-depth analysis of the bill as soon as we have more specifics about program funding levels.
