June is National Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month

Worldwide, there are at least 44 million people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and those numbers are expected to grow to 76 million by 2030. 
June is National Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month and n4a continues to support brain health through many of our programs.

Here are a some important resources, publications and best practices that allow individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia to be supported in their homes and communities as they age.

Publications:
Dementia Awareness and Transportation. This publication, developed under the National Center on Senior Transportation, and now available on the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center website, provides information, tips and resources for public transportation providers on dementia awareness. Public transportation drivers and providers who are aware of the challenges that individuals with dementia and their caregivers face are better prepared to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for all riders.

Brain Health: An Eldercare Locator guide, created in partnership with the CDC and NIH, to help jumpstart family conversations about maintaining brain health in older adults. 

n4a's Aging Innovations & Achievement Awards: Minnesota Association of Area Agencies on Aging, a 2015 Innovations Award winner, for the ACT on Alzheimer's program.
