Celebrating Older Americans Month—A Time to Honor, Reflect and Act

Each May, we come together to celebrate Older Americans Month—a time to recognize the strength, wisdom and contributions of older adults across the country.
 
This year's theme, Flip the Script on Aging, challenges us to reimagine aging—not as a decline, but as a time of purpose, vitality and possibility. It's a powerful reminder that how we talk about aging shapes how we value older adults—and how we invest in the programs that support them.
 
Right now, that investment is at risk.
 
As Congress debates funding priorities, essential services for older adults—like Older Americans Act and Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services and more—face serious threats. These aren't optional services. They are the foundation of independence, health and well-being for millions.
 
But if we've learned anything from our network, it's this: we don't back down. Our members are tireless advocates, community builders and champions for aging well. As we celebrate this month, we also mobilize—because flipping the script on aging also means standing up for what older adults need and deserve.
 
Throughout May, we'll be sharing stories and actions you can take to protect critical funding and elevate the conversation around aging. Together, we can honor the past, shape the present and advocate for a future where all of us can age with strength and support.
 
Let's celebrate. Let's act. Let's flip the script.
