ICYMI: New HHS Regs to Affect AAAs, Title VI Programs

In the past month, USAging has published analyses for members on three final rules that have implications for the Aging Network. In case you missed an update during this extra busy time of year, we have included a roundup of our publications below.

This week, USAging published a Legislative Update detailing the final update to Section 1557, which sets new nondiscrimination provisions for all HHS-funded programs including AAAs and Title VI programs. Requirements include providing language assistance services, posting notices of nondiscrimination, designating a staff person to lead training and regulatory compliance and other new requirements.

Last month, USAging detailed the final rule updating Section 504, which will require AAAs and Title VI programs to adopt new web, mobile and kiosk accessibility requirements for people with disabilities, as well as an updated integration mandate to prohibit disability segregation.

USAging also published a Legislative Update detailing the final HCBS access rule, which sets new requirements covering the direct care workforce and access to HCBS, most notably requiring at least 80 percent of all Medicaid payments for specific types of HCBS to be spent on compensation for direct care workers.

If you have any questions about any of these legislative updates, or other policy questions, please reach out to your policy team at policy@usaging.org.
