Aging Prisoners Focus of Forthcoming n4a Poll!

People over age 50 and older represent the fastest-growing segment of America's prison population, an increase of 25 percent between 2009-2013, according to a recent news report, which also noted that some prisons have “needed to set up geriatric wards.”

Stories like this are not a surprise to AAAs that are not only familiar with the issue, but have taken steps to address it.  For this reason, n4a, in collaboration with ACL, will be sending a “mini-poll” in early March to AAAs nationwide so we can learn more about potential opportunities for AAAs to engage in this issue.

In the meantime, if you would like to share information about how you and/or your community is addressing the problem of a fast-growing aging prison population, please contact Mary Kaschak
