Ginny Biggar joined USAging in April 2023 as Director, Marketing and Community Outreach for the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative (ADVC) and currently serves as Interim Director, Communications. In her role, Ginny leads communications efforts for USAging, including national campaigns to elevate and support the work of the ADVC and Eldercare Locator.
Before joining USAging, Ginny worked at UsAgainstAlzheimer's, a national policy and research organization in Washington, DC, where she managed advocacy coalitions, led the research program, and elevated the stories of people living with dementia and their care partners. Ginny became involved in the aging and disability field through her family experience.
“My father had MS for decades. So, caregiving is in my DNA. My work at UsAgainstAlzheimer's brought together my knowledge of caregiving, interest in chronic neurological diseases and communications experience. My role at USAging is a natural transition to a broader focus on aging and disability.”
Since Ginny has been at USAging, she has seen how impressively effective USAging members' community-based solutions are for older adults and people with disabilities. For her, the ADVC is the perfect example of this, USAging plays a critical role in leading and supporting grantees and grantees then tailor approaches for reaching people in their communities with vaccine education and outreach.
The best part of her experience at USAging so far has been working with people who are incredibly talented, committed and professional. In addition, she loves how the work positively impacts the lives of people who are often overlooked or don't have consistent access to supports and services. She's hoping she can help members get the word out about the amazing work they do, and ensure they have the materials and resources they need to connect with people in their communities.
“I've seen the myriad ways a chronic illness can affect a family. And I'm grateful to be able to work on programs at USAging that support independence and higher quality of life for older adults, people with disabilities and their families.”
In her free time, Ginny enjoys playing tennis, field hockey and ice hockey. Her favorite movie is This is Spinal Tap and, most recently, Barbie. Her favorite podcast is “Smartless” and right now she's reading My Ántonia by Willa Cather.
