Key Aging and Disability Administration Officials Installed

In a virtual swearing-in ceremony of more than 1,000 Biden Administration officials conducted in the evening of Inauguration Day, the new administration tapped key Acting leadership for federal Aging and Disability agencies. Per the ACL website, Alison Barkoff will serve as Principal Deputy Administrator and, until a permanent Assistant Secretary for Aging is appointed and confirmed, will serve as the Acting ACL Administrator.
 
Barkoff is a long-time advocate and champion of disability rights who joins ACL after most recently serving as Advocacy Director at the Center for Public Representation.
 
Additionally, Reyma McCoy McDeid joined ACL as the Commissioner of ACL's Administration on Disabilities and Director of the Independent Living Administration. Prior to joining ACL, she served as the Executive Director of the Central Iowa Center for Independent Living and served on the board of the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL).
