New Initiative to Create Nationwide Care Corps
n4a, the Oasis Institute, the Caregiver Action Network and the Altarum Institute have joined forces on an initiative to create the country's first Community Care Corps. The new initiative will foster innovative models in which volunteers assist family caregivers, older adults and people with disabilities with non-medical care to help them maintain their independence while living in the community.
The Community Care Corps will seek applications from organizations from across the country to receive funding to provide or implement programs that use volunteers to meet the needs of older adults and younger adults with disabilities. The goal is to discover innovative programs that provide volunteer caregiving services that can be replicated to serve diverse populations of older adults and people with disabilities in all corners of the country.
Applications for organizations wishing to participate will open later this year. Stay tuned to your n4a communications channels for more information!
